Differences between Action and Stative Verbs
All verbs in English are classified as either stative or action verbs (also referred to as dynamic verbs). Action verbs describe actions we take (things we do) or things that happen. Stative verbs refer to the way things are - their appearance, state of being, smell, etc. The most important difference between stative and action verbs is that action verbs can be used in continuous tenses and stative verbs cannot be used in continuous tenses. Action Verbs Shes studying math with Tom at the moment. AND She studies math with Tom every Friday. Theyve been working since seven oclock this morning. AND They worked for two hours yesterday afternoon. Well be having a meeting when you arrive. AND We are going to meet next Friday. Stative Verbs The flowers smell lovely. NOT Those flowers are smelling lovely. She heard him speak in Seattle yesterday afternoon. NOT She was hearing him speak in Seattle yesterday afternoon. Theyll love the concert tomorrow evening. NOT Theyll be loving the concert tomorrow evening. Common Stative Verbs There are many more action verbs than stative verbs. You may notice that some of these verbs can be used as action verbs with different meanings. For example, the verb to think can either express an opinion ââ¬â¹or the process of considering. In the first case, when think expresses an opinion it is stative: I think she should work harder on her math.She thinks he is a fantastic singer. Think, however, can also express the process of considering something. In this case think is an action verb: Theyre thinking about buying a new house.Shes thinking of joining a health club. Did you fart?See -à I see three trees in the yard.Feel -à I feel happy this afternoon.à Verbs Showing Emotion Love -à I love listening to classical music.Hate -à She hates to get up early every day.Want -à I want some help with my homework.Need -à I need some time with my friends.à If you are unsure of whether a verb is an action verb or a stative verb ask yourself the following question: Does this verb relate some sort of process or a state? If it relates a process, then the verb is an action verb. If it relates a state, the verb is a stative verb.

The best way of safeguarding from the fluctuation of the currency is to hedge the transaction in the currency exchange market. Several kinds of instruments are available in the derivative markets for hedging. One can sell or buy the currency in futures or forward market with a delivery at the future date. This prevents the possibility of any losses due to currency fluctuations. One can also enter into options contract in the currency market where one gets right to buy or sell the currency but not an obligation of the same. Accordingly, one can buy Euros in futures market now at the prevailing rate with the delivery in 6 months so as not to get impacted in future by any kind of movements. Globalization Globalization in simple terms is an integration of economies of various countries wherein countries remove trade barriers or tariffs and allow transactions to happen. The benefit of globalization is that countries can take advantage of comparative advantage that they have in the market place. Globalization increases the efficiency in manufacturing and distribution sectors and makes available the goods at lowest possible prices. Globalization has been a boon to consumers as they get best of the quality goods at lowest possible prices. Globalization has become important to the world economy now because it allows harnessing scare resources in the most efficient manner. Intense global competition helps in creating new products and services through innovation. Globalization has given way to the burgeoning financial markets worldwide. Her parents were James McCauley and Leona McCauley. After her younger brother was born in 1915 they moved to Pine Level, Rosa was put into a rural school and at the age of 11 Rosa finished her education. Rosa Parks worked as a seamstress, a job that involved sewing for long hours. She was also an activist to help free the ââ¬Å"Scottsboro boys,â⬠, ans together with Raymond she was an active member of the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People (NAACPââ¬â¢s) programs. Raymond was a secretary and youth leader and Rosa was a secretary. One day on December 1st Rosa Parks was coming home from a long day at work, at the age of 42, she was tired and just wanted to get home. She sat down on a seat on the bus, and then Rosa was asked to move for a white man, but she was tired of being treated unfairly she refused the white manââ¬â¢s request as well as the bus driverââ¬â¢s; which lead to her getting arrested. Her trial was later that day and she was found guilty but later that night she was bailed out from jail. The arrest of Rosa Parks triggered black people of Montgomery and sympathizers to organize in protest. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was appointed spokesperson for the Bus Boycott; a boycott of the city bus that lasted over a year. Also people had all sorts of different protests in the South and all over the US. Hundreds and thousands of people were in on the protest to demand equal rights for all people. All these actions lead to segregation on Montgomery buses finally being declared illegal by the United States Supreme Court on Nov. 13, 1956, and then the boycotters were able to return to the buses on Dec. 1, 1956. In 1957 Rosa moved to Michigan and became a helper for the African Methodist Episcopal Church (AME). After her husbandââ¬â¢s death of cancer in 1977, Rosa co-founded with Ms. Elaine Eason Steele the Rosa and Raymond Institute for Self Development. This is where Rosa explained her love for children, ââ¬Å"Children are my passion and I believe that everyone can make a difference in their own lives.
